Bruce’s Story

By: Elena Denny

Let me introduce you to our friend Bruce. Bruce became homeless several months ago. After the loss of his mother and some tough life circumstances Bruce was facing the streets of West Palm as part of the homeless community. From the moment we met Bruce we could see the hard-working, positive, and go-getter mentality he carried even in the circumstances he was in. Bruce explained to us how he has always been a “work-aholic”, and valued the importance of working for what you want.

When we presented Bruce with our job outreach program and the idea of setting him up with a job to get him back on his feet he was more than willing to give it a shot and was very grateful to have this opportunity. With excitement Bruce and Umberto pulled up to one of our partners Mint Eco Car Wash for Bruce’s interview. Leaving the facility was even better, because our friend accepted a job! He was beaming with joy and so excited to start his new job at the car wash the next day.

Our job outreach program is just one of the programs we have here at the Giveback that can change the directory of our homeless friends lives. Partnerships and donations are what make this possible, so anything is greatly appreciated by us here on the team and our friends. Changing lives and seeing a shift in trajectory of their paths is our main goal, and that is exactly what is happening with our friend Bruce. We are so grateful that we could build a relationship with Bruce and provide a job that will get him back on his feet and headed to a brighter future.
