DJ’s Success Story!

There is no person in the world who is not happy when a goal is achieved. There is not a CEO of a company who is not happy when the company maximizes not only shareholder’s return but also his stakeholder’s value. There is no member and volunteer of the Give Back Community who isn’t happy when one of our clients succeeds, and this is the case of David or also called “TJ.” He is one of the stories of success within the organization.
David, in his early thirties, is an outgoing, educated, intelligent gentleman I met through our outreach program called “Game Day.” This is a program where members of The Give Back Community and our volunteers gather in locations with heavy concentrations of homeless people. The purpose of Game Day is not only to provide basic needs for our friends (food, clothing, medical help, etc.) but to begin journeys of genuine relationships.
I connected with David because we are both interested in the banking/finance industry. He used to work for Wells Fargo as a teller in the past, but he said that the office type of work was not for him.
Every Friday, we used to spend some time chatting about banking/finances, and little by little, we started talking more about life and the purpose God has for every one of us. He began to tell me more about him, and that is when I learned that his last job was as a security guard and that he was interested in returning to work again.
Some weeks passed, and one day, I asked him what his plans were for the medium and long term, and he replied to me, “Get back into a more normal life.” That gave me the answer I was looking for. I offered him the organization’s help to make that happen. One day, he asked me if we could help him get his security license again? My response was a resounding, absolutely!
We, at the Give Back Community, have encouraged David to pursue his goal. We sponsored his education and paid for his security license classes and license. As a reward for his dedication, we equipped him with a brand-new cellphone.

We are working tirelessly to share more stories like this. This achievement wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the fantastic people who have donated to our organization and all the volunteers who come with us every Friday.

Go Beyond!

  1. Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon everyday. It will always be helpful to read articles from other writers and use something from other sites.
