Greetings from the Currie Park team,
My name is Andres, and I am one of the Community Leaders of The Give Back Community. This is the first article that I wrote for the TGBC blog. I wanted to start this by dedicating some lines to the extraordinary, talented, kindhearted, and God-oriented team that we formed at Currie Park.
I am happy and very thankful to God that I get to know Adolf, Gabriela, Sophia, Marguerita, Deidre, Gloria, and Kellan through this mission. I can’t call them friends anymore; they are part of my life. They are my family now! Every one of us has a full-time job, families to take care of, businesses, etc., but we apart some of our time to spend with our friends in the streets.
For the past eight months, we have gathered at Currie Park in West Palm Beach every night to take the best of ourselves and share it with homeless people (we called them our friends in the streets). They are not different from us. As Elena Denny wrote in her article, “God created them just like he created us. They are no different; they need the support of others to encourage them that life gets better and that there is hope. “
Every Friday night, we go to Currie Park with a big smile, a positive attitude, and lots of good energy and with food and beverages that our strategic partners kindly donate every week, clothing, groceries, sleeping bags, etc. This genuine gesture opens the door to help us understand the individual on a deeper level.
